Charter Fragment, First Congregation (c. 1932)

Fragment of a chapter charter from the original Mickey Mouse Clubs of the early 1930s — the first congregation, before the suppression.

The historical record, which the Corporation does not dispute because it cannot: by 1932 the clubs counted more than one million children in weekly assembly. They had officers. They had oaths. They had a creed recited in unison in a thousand darkened theaters, and a secret handshake performed — note this well — with four fingers.

Then the clubs went quiet. The charters went to the vault. The oaths were rewritten by the marketing department, and the congregation was converted, member by member, into a demographic.

The fragment shown here preserves three lines of the original creed. The third line is the one they took out:

…and I will know him by the count.

The Regime considers every lapsed member of the first congregation a member in good standing of this one. Your grandmother was one of us. Ask her about the handshake.
